So its been 2 months since my baby turned 1 and a lot of stuff has happened in that short time! Caleb is walking more and more everyday. He still has trouble on the hard floors, but Grammie got him some socks with the sticky spots on them. That should really help him take off now. He is also talking a ton more. Most people that hear him have no clue, but being a mommy, I can pick out the things that he's saying. Or I dilute myself to think that he is actually saying something when he's just jabbering. Either way, he's starting to copy our reactions and things we say. He's getting really good at saying ball, puppy, nana (banana), nite-nite, down, milk, and a few others. He tries to say thank you, Charlie, Kodi, juice, bath, and some others that don't come out right, but I can tell by when he says it, what he means. This is going to make it much easier to give him what he wants, when he can finally make some sense!
Oh and for those of you that hadn't heard, Isaac and I found out the beginning of August that we are going to make Caleb a big brother! We are still in the early stages of the pregnancy, but I just rolled over the 13th week, so i should start to feel better soon. I've just been pretty tired and not able to eat a lot of stuff. Of course, Caleb has no idea, and I'm not sure when he'll figure it out, or if it'll be when the new baby comes home. I've seen him playing at daycare with other kids and I'm very excited for him. I know right away they won't play, but he is so nice with other kids.
Then at the end of September, Isaac and I went to Washington, DC. It was a trip for Isaac's best friend Jared's wedding. Isaac was the best man and wasn't going to miss it for the world. We decided that since Isaac has never been out there (and is a huge political and history nut), we were going to make a vacation out of it. We stayed an extra couple days. Caleb stayed at home and hung out with Grammie over the weekend and then she took him to Grandma Sandy for the next few days. We had a great time and I've got a few pictures posted, but it was just a little too long for me to be gone from the little monkey. I made it until Tuesday night and then I couldn't take it anymore. We were going home on Wednesday, so I was able to pick him up that night and take him home. Unfortunately, he seemed to think it was my fault that we left him with other people and didn't want anything to do with me. He went straight to Isaac and wouldn't come to me. Finally after about 15 minutes, he decided he wasn't mad anymore and I was able to squeeze on him.
Since we've been home though, its been pretty crazy too. We were behind on all the house stuff, and the first of October, Caleb started teething again. He only has his 4 k-9 teeth (no idea what they are really called!) left to come in. He was being really good, but just a little whinny and I finally realized what it was and saw he had a little white nub in the open space. I hope they come in OK, since he already has his molars in.
Well, that is the jist of all the Holtrop updates! We are doing really good and with this nice weather coming in, we have been outside quite a bit and Isaac is getting pretty swamped with harvest in full swing. So I've put up a few pictures of the DC trip and the trip that Caleb and I made to Pumpkinland with Grandma Sandy, Aunt Lana, and all the cousins. He had a pretty good time there too. We haven't carved any pumpkins yet, since I don't want them to go bad before Halloween. We'll get them carved in the next week or so, and then we'll have more pics of Caleb too - I'm going to let him help!
We'll have a few more pics of Caleb soon (carving and Halloween all dressed up). Hope all is going well for everyone!
