I just wanted everyone to know that I will be updating the blog soon. I go back to work this Monday, November 2, and besides the fact that I'm completely dreading the day, it will give me a chance to catch up on the things Caleb has been doing.
We have knew pictures and he has started doing some pretty cool things! I promise to have updates next week, but right now I'm going to enjoy the last couple days with my baby and maybe take him trick-or-treating. I just wanted to let you all know that I haven't forgot to update you, I'm just trying to get all the Caleb-time I can!
Until next week!

More Pictures
Here are a few pictures of the big boy from this last week. I've been getting smarter and having the camera with me in the morning first thing. He is so smiley and just jabbers until I can't stand up anymore and talk with him! Then I move him to the floor to play with his toys and he just talks to the toys for awhile longer!
I can't believe how much bigger he's getting and how much he is learning each day. I'm afraid to say this, and I'm knocking on wood, but its been all week that Caleb has slept from around 10 until 5:00-6:00. This morning, I was able to get up at 6:00, change/feed him, and when he went back to sleep, I got in the shower. I figured I'd start trying to get up early again, instead of going back to sleep when he does :( So we had a successful morning, and he's just napping until his next feeding - which is really soon, so I'm gonna go!

Baptism Sunday
Well Sunday is over! We had a great day, after Caleb got something to eat at church. We both woke up early and he took a full bottle and was his usual happy smiley self. I had to finish a few things that morning and get the cheese dip started, so when I finally looked at the clock, it was almost 10 and we were both still in our PJs. I made his bottle and backed his bag, then went to get myself dressed. And of course, I pushed it too long, so he started to get really crabby. Since we were running late, I wanted to get everyone dressed, and everything packed and head to the church (since we were supposed to be there about 10:30). Well, by the time we showed up the service had just started, so No we didn't make it early!
I had taken Caleb out as soon as we gotten through the door and started feeding him, cuz the poor thing was so hungry. So he was able to get about half the bottle down and fell asleep before we had to go up front. He slept through the whole thing and kept sleeping until about noon, when Aunt Marlys was able to finish feeding him his bottle.
Then about 1:30-2:00 he decided that since everyone was wrapping up and leaving, he'd wake up and be super happy. So Mommy & Daddy were able to get the house picked back up and then just relax with a happy boy for the rest of the day!
All in all, it was a really nice day and we thank everyone for helping make it a special day & for the gifts!

Here are some pictures from this week and I got a video of him this morning that I'm working on posting! He is such an active boy in the morning, unlike my preferred sleepy mornings. The older he gets, the more like dad he becomes - he still has my mouth though, dang it!!
Enjoy & Happy Fall! :)

Caleb's 6 week check up
Hey all!
Today we had our 6 wk check ups. Caleb had a busy weekend so I was a little worried about how we'd get to the appt and how he would do. My concerns were vaporized by this little miracle of a boy. We woke up this morning around 6 and I fed him and he fell back asleep, so I was able to get dressed, feed the dogs, and get all his bag of goodies ready to go. By the time I was done with everything, it was 8 and I decided to feed him a little more so he'd make it if the appts were long. He took another 3-4 ounces and we were off. He got in his chair and was a little sleepy and fell asleep about 5 minutes from the clinic. Once we got there, he woke up and just started to look around. He stayed awake for the rest of the appt and was just a happy little camper and grinned at the nurses/doctor. He was trying to talk a little while I was having my checkup, so that was nice to keep my attention diverted!! :)
Then the most horrible thing happened, and it quickly became one of the more saddest days of my life. He had to get his shots (3 total). He was laying on the table just looking around, being so good, and the nurses both took a side. All I could do was watch, and he went from being completely happy to the most blood curdling screams - my heart was just ripped from my chest as I couldn't do anything until they were done.
I picked him up as soon as they were finished and he was able to calm down in a couple minutes, while I was getting my flu shot (only for Caleb, otherwise, I hate shots too!) After he quieted down, I dressed him and got him in his car seat. He took his pacifier and was trying to fall asleep - he was sleeping before we left the building. He was such a trooper! He had such a busy morning, that I wanted to let him do whatever he wanted today (if he wanted to sleep or eat, I was gonna let him). He actually didn't do anything out of the ordinary though. He woke up to eat and then took another nap. I wasn't sure how the shots would affect him, but they seem to only have left a little sore spot that I try to avoid touching. Otherwise, he's been awake a few times just looking around and talking to mom.
So finally, the details of the checkup! He weighs 11 lbs 2 oz, he's 22.75 inches long, and his head is 39 cm. He is above the 75th percentile for all areas, and the doctor was very impressed with his smiling, talking, and how he was able to hold his head up for quite awhile.
Ok, since it's been awhile since my last post, I figured I'd let you know what else we've been up to. He has been to a fair and to the Outback. He was very good at both places. Most of our days consist of getting up around 6-7 to eat, and then nap until 9 or so - brunch and then its time for Caleb and mom to have a good heart to heart conversation and play time. After he eats again, he's ready for a nap (sometimes he naps before he wants something to eat). Then he is awake again at around 2-3 and we talk a little more & play. Sometimes if he doesn't want to talk/play, he sits in his bouncy chair and watches me do more chores (this is the time that I could use a swing, since his bouncy chair puts him to sleep). Then after some more time of being awake and another meal, he's off to sleep until Dad comes home or just about 6-7 (supper time). I try to keep him from eating because we have a good system of giving him a bath when he wakes up after he gets all upset (still doesn't like bathes), he eats more than the average and wants to go back to sleep! And so does Mom!!
That is about the extent of our days. Sometimes I try to sneak a grocery store trip in there and we go for walks about everyday. I don't have any good pictures of him, since I'm trying to play with him more when he's awake, but I'll get some tomorrow and post them for you to see - he has gotten so big. He's gonna look like a little boy soon and not the baby boy from a couple weeks ago :(
Well, I'm still trying to keep up my milk production (not having much luck, but we're about 1/2 and 1/2). And now that I got the flu shot, I'm going to try to keep him on breast milk through the winter, and hopefully he doesn't get terrible sick.
I'll get some pictures tomorrow and post them, and hopefully I'll update more often while I have time. Although, when I go back to work, I'll be at a computer, so maybe it will be easier then (and not a short novel each time)!!

Anyone have a time stopper??
Here are a few new pictures of Caleb. He is getting so big. He has pretty much out grown the newborn clothes and is needing the 0-3 stuff, mainly because he's so long. I'm definately going to be outgrown by this kid :)
He is doing very good. We are regularly on a 3 hour schedule, but I'm starting to stretch it out to 4 or if he can sleep longer or stay awake longer, I let him. Hopefully, he'll be sleeping through the night by the time I go back to work. I'm not sure I can function at work on a few hours of sleep here and there.
Other than that, not much going on. Caleb and I made our first trip to Sioux City today. We acquired a dishwasher this weekend (super excited about that too!), and I wanted to get more bottles and nipples and the dishwasher cage, so things don't go flying all over the dishwasher. So we ended up just going to SC, since I knew they had what I wanted, instead of trying everywhere else first. Also we picked up some books. I want to start reading to him, so he doesn't just hear my voice rambling all day - now I have stories and pictures for him to see. I'll have to start building our book collection, since we don't have any other than the couple I got today.
Well, its time to feed the boy and then mom gets to go to bed!! Enjoy the pictures!

Things are better after we get into the bouncer and relax on the patio
